In Memory Of
James W. "Jim" Stallings
1937 - 2022

James (Jim) W Stallings passed away peacefully on Thursday, 3 November 2022 in Aurora, Colorado, after a long illness.

He was born in Ackerman, Mississippi on 15 July 1937 as the first child to the late James Turner and Ada Orene (Lorene) Hester Stallings. He graduated from Sturgis High School in Sturgis, Mississippi in 1955. He married Olivia Herrera on 1 November 1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They were the parents of two children. He served in the Air Force for 26 years and after completing basic training in San Antonio, Texas, was stationed at several bases throughout the world, including Greenland, Italy, New Mexico and South Dakota. He retired and moved to Aurora in 1983.

Jim was a friend to everyone he met. He loved going out to eat and made friends with the servers and other people he met while he was out. He would do anything he could to help others. He had quite the green thumb and enjoyed gardening, both indoors and out. His grandchildren have fond memories of the beautiful garden in his backyard. He loved eagles and built a large collection of them over the years. He enjoyed traveling and loved to visit his family in Mississippi and New Mexico. In 2012 he took a camper trip with his daughter and son-in-law to the East Coast for his granddaughter’s wedding. He loved stopping in Washington DC to see all the memorials. He took trips to Yosemite National Park and Alaska, among other places.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Olivia; his parents; brothers John Harvey; Roy Gene; Glen Lee (Sr); John Thomas; and George Russell (Sr) Stallings.

Jim is survived by his daughter Shari (Wayne) Weyerman of Colorado Springs, Colorado and son James Kenneth of Aurora, Colorado; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Shawn) Rioux of Glen Rock, Pennsylvania and Sara Weyerman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three great-grandsons, Jacob, Alexander, and Hunter; a brother Charles Henry (Eileen) Stallings of Edmonds, Washington; and special friends Mary Roberts and Tammy Moncrief, both of Aurora Colorado.

Memorial services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Aurora, Colorado, at a date to be announced.
