Joseph Rolland Calvert

Born August 12, 1925 in Copan Oklahoma to Lyle and Gladys Calvert. Moved to Nowata Oklahoma and went to Children’s school. There he met his life long friend Carl Rhodes. There were friends for over 80 years.
Joe had a brother, Bill Calvert and sister Liberty Illingworth.

He left Oklahoma to join the Army. He Served in the Army from may 4th 1943 to February 16th 1946. He served in WWII as an Ambulance driver in the Philippines. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to Colorado. He worked in the mines at climax from 1947 to 1949. In 1949 or early 1950’s he drove coal trucks for Rio Grande. While in Leadville, he had a band called Curly Joe and the Cowboys.
Joe had a 1st wife, from whom he had two sons, Tommy Joe who died shortly after birth and Jerry Alan Calvert.
In 1955 or 1956 Joe moved to Denver and started working for Goodyear Brad Reagan Rubber Company. He worked there for 25-30 years.

Joe Met Roberta (Pat) Wion in 1957. They were married May 8, 1960. They were married for 62 years and together for 65 years. Joe and Pat had two children, Judy Kay (1965) and Bobby Joe (1970). Bobby Joe passed away in November of 1993.

After Retirement Joe spent his time playing his guitar and singing. He also loved to record old country music on to CD’s and DVD’s

He is survived by his wife Pat Calvert, Son Jerry Calvert, Daughter Judy Misheler. His Grand Children Timothy Calvert and Cindy White. Numerous Great Grand Children and Great Great Grand Children

Reception will be held at the VFW Post 5061 On December 13, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm located at 5220 W Warren Avenue Denver CO, 80227
