All good times must come to an end, such as it is with the great and early loss of Scott Stephen Allen, Sr., age 67, of Westminster, CO. Scott passed away at his residence on November 25, 2022.
His life began on March 22, 1955, in Syracuse, NY. Scott was a proud Eagle Scout and honor graduate of Westhill High School. After high school, he worked full-time while receiving his collegiate education at Syracuse University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business management.
While studying at Syracuse, Scott secured a position with P&C Food Markets. While at P&C Foods, Scott developed a true talent for business, personnel recruiting and training, leadership, and strategic thinking. These skills became noticed by the largest manufacturer of burial caskets in the world, Batesville Casket Company. Scott joined Batesville Casket in 1980 and was quickly promoted to the position of Regional Manager. While in this position, he lived in Batesville, IN, Cincinnati, OH, Chicago, IL, and St. Louis, MO. As a result of Scott's many successes while in this role, in 1990, at the age of 35, he was promoted to the position of Vice President of Sales, West Division. This position would ultimately take him to his home of Denver, CO, where he continued to have a successful career with several companies until his retirement in 2012.
Scott thoroughly enjoyed living in Denver and the lifestyle of "being out west." He took up many outdoor hobbies including bicycling, hiking, and especially golf. Being of competitive nature, every weekend he looked forward to joining his buddies at the Pinery Country Club in Parker, CO and spending his entire Saturday playing 36 holes while challenging his friends to his usual "gentleman's bet of a $2 Nassau." Scott was also active in his community, participating in several charitable organizations. He was named Man of the Year in 2001 by the Denver Tuesday Downtown Organization.
During Scott's quiet time, he was an ardent reader and student of American history, politics, and military history. He had the ability to recite, from memory, the dates, times, and places of just about any historical event involving American presidents or the Civil War. Scott was also an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Syracuse Orange.
There were many admirable qualities and personality traits about Scott. He was a fierce competitor, a perfectionist, extremely organized, a first-class leader, confident, ruggedly handsome, sharp-witted, and a true gentleman. He also had a gifted command of the English language. With all of this being said about Scott Allen, his greatest gift was being his friend; when you were his friend, you knew it, and he stood in your corner no matter what. Scott will be so sadly missed by all of us who knew him and loved him. For sure, his spirit will live on in all of our hearts for years to come.
Scott leaves behind a loving legacy of his sons, Scott Allen, Jr. and Jeffrey Allen, both of Buffalo, NY, and Evan Asbury of Salt Lake City, UT; nieces Meghan Murman and Samantha Serbun, and nephew, Taylor Zinter, all of Baldwinsville, NY; and his faithful companion, his pet dog, Humphrey. Scott was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Allen, who he missed dearly.
It was Scott's wishes to be cremated and laid to rest in Syracuse, NY.
