He was born March 31, 1936, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of John Wesley and Mary Elizabeth (Partridge) Dudley. On August 30, 1956, he married the love of his life, Jeanette Frierson, of Manning, South Carolina.
James served 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Tech. Sgt. He was awarded The Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. James went on to work for the US Post Office and retired after 23 years of service.
James is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Curtis) Heard, Cindy Albright, and Jaime (Matt) Johnson; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; special niece Tina Shumpert; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, and his parents, John Wesley and Mary Dudley.
A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, January 23, 2023. Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 11am, followed by burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
