It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James Frederick Sterk of Denver, Colorado at the age of 73. Our loving husband, father, and papa was called to Heaven the afternoon of March 6th, 2023. Following a battle with several heart ailments, Jim Sterk was preceded in death by his parents and brothers. He was the first son born on May 24th, 1949 to Fred Sterk and Crystal Sterk (Lefferdink) in Denver, Colorado. Lovingly remembered by his wife of over 52 years, Linda Sterk; daughter Tara Crase; son Matt Sterk; grandchildren Deacon Sterk, Van Sterk, and Elijah Sterk; sister Barb Christensen (Sterk).
Jim graduated from South High School in 1967 and went on to pursue a career as a big rig mechanic. He was passionate and dedicated to his work at NW Transport, Transwest Truck, and Voyager Express. Outside of work, Jim had a passion for working with his family around his 4-acre horse property for nearly 30 years. After retiring in 2015, he spent his days touring the state of Colorado and participating in the lives of his grandchildren. At the age of 18, Jim met the love of his life, Linda, at a local hangout. It may have been love at first sight as they dated only a short while before the couple got married on June 20, 1970. After settling into married life and finding a home to call their own they went on to raise two beautiful children. Everyone who knew Jim knew that he was kind, intelligent, fair and forgiving; he, above all else, truly loved and devoted himself to his wife and family.
The family will celebrate the lives and union of Jim and Linda Sterk at the 'family' home on Saturday May 20th, 2023. All that loved them are asked to join the family in sharing memories together beginning at 3 pm. We would love to share the property that has brought so much joy to the Sterks with all of you!
