1930 - 2023

Ralph Priest was born August 7, 1930, to Floyd and Helen Priest in Sand Creek Township, Union County, Iowa and passed away March 13, 2023 in Centennial, CO

Ralph grew up on a farm in rural Iowa. He attended Primary School at Beaconsfield Consolidated School and then graduated from Thayer High School in 1947. Soon after graduation he moved to Lincoln NE and trained to be a meat cutter.

While living in Lincoln he met the love of his life Janet Henderson. They married on December 31, 1950, and continued to live in Lincoln. In March of 1951 Ralph was drafted into the Army due to the Korean War. He had to leave his new bride and was stationed in Germany until his discharge in March of 1953. After his discharge he returned to Lincoln and his meat cutting career. He and Janet also started their family. They were blessed with a son David and a daughter Diane.

In 1960, Ralph moved his family to Colorado where they lived in Edgewater and Ralph started working for Safeway. He became a meat manager and was moved to several different locations to makeover the meat department. He was very good at making the departments run efficiently.

After he retired and his wife passed away, he moved to McCook Nebraska in 2000, and lived there until 2013, when he returned to Colorado. He lived in Cherry Creek Retirement Village until shortly before his death. He enjoyed his time there and made many friends. He even became the President of the Residents group for several years.

Ralph is survived by his daughter Diane Strein (Glen), his Grandchildren Brian Strein, Sarah Petzinger (Craig), and two great grandsons Lincoln and Logan Petzinger. He is preceded in death by his wife Janet and son David.
