Joseph Ray Taraba, 74, passed away Monday, September 4th, 2023. Joe was born to Bueford and Marilyn Taraba, on August 19th, 1949, near Cainsville, MO. He graduated from Mojave County Union High School, in Kingman, AZ in 1967 followed by a semester of college at Northern Arizona University, in Flagstaff, AZ. Joe joined the United States Navy in February of 1969, serving his country through February of 1973. Part of his service was on the USS Hancock off the coast of Vietnam, where he worked as a jet Engine Mechanic.

Joe’s professional career was spent in the building trades; he helped shape the Denver skyline and supervised the Glenwood Canyon, Interstate-70 project. Joe also ventured into entrepreneurship, forming both Rocking JK, a commercial insulation company, as well as opening a Grayfield Corporation franchise, building and marketing ATA cases.

Joe remained a patriot throughout his life and was an active member of the Hinckley, American Legion. Joe was an avid supporter of the 2nd Amendment and was proud of his gun collection. He loved country music/dancing, singing Karoake, Ford vehicles, and outdoor activities.

Joe is survived by two children, Donavan Taraba (husband Gregory) of Parker, CO and Brandy Boos (husband Edward) of Peach Bottom, PA and granddaughter Irelyn Boos. Joe is preceded in death by his father Bueford Taraba and survived by his mother, Marilyn Taraba; his brother Doyle Taraba (wife Susan) and Sister, Marsha Peacock (husband Terry), and countless nephews, nieces, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made out to the American Legion in Hinckley, MN (American Legion Post 388, PO Box 181, Hinckley, MN 55037).

A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Lakewood, CO at 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 19th. Interment will follow directly after at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
