Lenora Elsie Ochsner was born September 13, 1927, in Goodland, Kansas, the sixth of eight children born to Hugo and Hannah Ochsner. She was baptized as an infant at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Goodland. The Sabbath was kept on Sundays with everyone in the family attending church services. Lenora was confirmed at age 14 and active during her teen years in Luther League. She remained steadfast throughout life in the Lutheran faith, and had a firm and enduring belief in and love for God.
Formal education began at age 6, in a one room country school house until graduation from the eighth grade. High School followed, with WWII beginning during her freshman year. The family was deeply grieved when an older brother, Cpl. Edwin Hugo Ochsner, was killed during the battle of Leyte in the Philippine Islands.
After High School graduation, Lenora worked at the county courthouse until her marriage to Edwin Hickman, when the couple moved to the Denver area and bought a home in Englewood, Colorado. Two daughters and a son were born to Edwin and Lenora. The family belonged to Grace Lutheran church for 25 years, ten years of which Lenora served as church secretary.
During her marriage to Al Moore, Lenora became a member of Cross of Glory Lutheran Church where Lenora served on the church council and performed altar duties for close to 20 years. In 2011 she moved to Aurora, Colorado.
Lenora was active in the Denver Turnverein for many years, and Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority for 40 years. She enjoyed many hobbies, including music, dancing, quilting, crafting, reading, gardening, and interior decorating. She was an astronomy buff and spent many hours searching the night skies with her beloved telescope.
Lenora is survived by her three children:
Gloria Braucht (John)
Alison Martin (Andrew)
Taylor Braucht (Elyse)
Lenora was deeply loved by her family and we hope she has found eternal peace.
