Albert Henry Smale was born in Camden New Jersy October 14th, 1935. His Mother was Kathleen Hickman and Father was Ernest Craig Smale. He had 2 brothers Chuck and Ronny. GRANDPA

Al was the only Grandpa I knew, so to me he was always the best. Memories When I was younger, I remember going to his house and the smell of bacon, potatoes and he cooked really good pancakes. I remember playing basketball with him. I remember staying up all night playing Jaws with him and family. I remember playing football with him. I remember playing tennis with him. I remember helping him with apartment maintenance and him teaching me how to paint and caulk. I remember he liked to swim, he taught me how to swim. Mostly I just felt unconditional love. For some reason he liked to call me bub. I will miss how he smells of Paul Malls. I remember the many trips to King Soupers and getting long johns or Bismark’s. I remember playing cribbage with him. I remember he liked to read the newspaper. I remember he like to make sandwiches. I remember getting nice gifts from him and Grandma. He liked to wash dishes. He took me to watch fireworks, and we were right under them, and I got ash in my eye. In St George we use to go to Harmons to get ice cream. He would give me money to play in arcade in Mesquite. I remember going to the Buffet in Mesquite with him and Grandma. He took me to his work in Utah. I remember racing him. He loved animals and broncos/rockies/nuggets. I remember he use to spend a long time in the bathroom and destroy it. I remember he would always give me a ride; he liked to drive. I remember he got mad because I played his slot machine. I remember he loved reading books. He loved sweets, gizzards, salt, sugar, coffee, shrimp. He loved his precious Sam and did everything to protect him even when it didn’t make sense. I always admire the love my Grandparents shared/showed. There was no Al without Katie. I remember taking my Grandparents to 5 Guys when they were older and watching them hold hands and seeing kindness from random strangers, which gave me hope in mankind. I remember he made me laugh. I will miss his hugs, his smell, the sound of his voice, looking at his big toes and ears, his glass, his hearing aids, him walking around in his robe and slippers.
