The family requests that all friends and people who knew Alex come between 6 and 8 PM during the viewing to share their memories of him.
Alex is survived by his Son, Michael, and by his Granddaughter Emily, who was his pride and joy.
Alex was raised in the town of Szczecin, Poland, by his Mother Klaudia, and his Father Israel. He had two sisters, Ruth and Barbara, who live in New Jersey now. He was very active in the small Jewish community there, playing soccer, and he was especially proud of playing in his band, which played the largest amphitheater in the town. They played a mix of original songs, which Alex wrote the lyrics for and British Invasion rock, mostly the Beatles.
His family moved to the US in 1965, he was inducted into the Army in 1967 and served from 1967-1969, he learned both drafting and English in the US Army.
Alex married Raquel Kozminsky in 1968, and they had their son, Michael, in 1969.
Alex attended Drexel University for several years, but he never found the time to finish.
They lived initially in Philadelphia, where he began work as a draftsman.
In 1974 they moved to Houston, Texas, where they had family that could help them out and Alex could find work as an Engineer in the booming oil industry in the 1970s.
Alex and Raquel loved to bowl, and were in many leagues over the years. Alex also coached and refereed for youth soccer leagues, partly to be involved in Michael's activities, partly because he always retained his love of the game.
Alex's love of music and poetry was always a part of his life, he was always jotting down poems in his spare time, and playing the guitar, he was always known to spontaneously break out into a Beatles tune.
He excelled at his work, and eventually became a specialist in Control Systems Design, and was considered one of the top in demand experts on many of the PLC systems he worked on.
Alex and Raquel divorced in 1982, and Michael eventually moved with Alex to Denver, Colorado, where he moved to find work in 1984.
After Michael left for University, Alex travelled extensively, he always loved travel.
Alex loved gambling and would make many trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Monte Carlo, and took cruises whenever he had the opportunity.
Alex always worked on his poetry, self-publishing many volumes and also being published in several journals over the years, his umbrella title for his poetry was "Grey Melodies".
Alex loved getting professional massages, he had one the day he passed away, the massage therapist said that he always sang to her, he sang "The Long and Winding Road" during this last massage.
Watching the Broncos was important to Alex, he never missed a game on TV, the last time he saw Michael and Emily they both came over to watch the Broncos, all wearing Broncos jerseys.
Two weeks later in fact, he passed away while watching a Bronco game, it was very quick.
He died doing what he loved, living his life on his own terms, watching the Broncos, singing The Beatles.
Alex was a complex, brilliant man, who touched many people's lives, more so than he ever thought, he was beloved by many, and he will be sorely missed.
Alex will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery Tuesday morning, the service there will be for immediate family only.
