Alice Campman

April 28, 1929 — January 3, 2017

Alice Marie Campman, 87, of Louisville, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 while in the care of the attentive and kind staff of TRU Care Community Hospice Center, Boulder Community Hospital, Boulder, Colorado.

Born April 28, 1929 in Endeavor, Pennsylvania and raised in Sheffield, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Mary Almeda Beers and the late James Norman Albaugh. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewis Willard Campman, January 10, 1990. She is survived by her three daughters Lewreen Zurek and her husband Ryszard S. Zurek, of Louisville, Colorado, Martha Kotar, of Gerry, New York, and Rebecca Campman of Boulder, Colorado; her six grandchildren, Kristin Rice and her husband, Ryan Rice, and their son, Jackson Rice, (Alice's only great grandchild), of Loveland, Colorado, Ryszard L. Zurek, of Louisville, Colorado, Steven Zurek, of Thornton, Colorado, Kaitlyn Kotar, of Clarion, Pennsylvania, and Alyssa Kotar and Jacob Kotar, of Gerry, New York.

She met and married her husband Lewis in Warren, Pennsylvania in 1950. As the wife of a United States Airforce officer, their life together began as a great adventure. After traveling the globe, the couple eventually moved their growing family back to Warren, Pennsylvania where they would stay to witness graduations, trips to college, weddings, and finally ease into retirement.

Alice relocated to Louisville, Colorado in 1992 to be closer to her Colorado family. As an active member of her church and the local senior center, she quickly made friends. Alice took it upon herself to ensure the older parishioners had transportation to Sunday services. When she could no longer drive due to her failing eyesight, her first concern wasn't her new limitations but rather how her charges would get to and from church. She was gently reminded that she was now "one of the little old ladies" and it was okay to accept help from the younger parishioners. Among many of her charitable acts, she made regular donations to several children's charities and enjoyed crocheting lap blankets for distribution to the local chapter of Veterans charities.

A private service will be held in Warren, Pennsylvania in June of 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to TRU Care Community Hospice, Colorado (trucare.org).
