Alice Marie Starrett of Northglenn, Colorado went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2013.
She was born to the late William (Bill) and Charlotta (Lottie) Pullar on Oct. 9, 1916 in International Falls, Minnesota. She married the late Leonard Haven Starrett on June 21, 1936. They spent their earlier married lives in Minnesota, Montana, Washington, North Dakota and Wyoming. In the mid 1950's they settled in Larkspur, Colorado untill all the children were grown. Later in life they spent several years in Camp Verde, Arizona, eventually moving back to the Denver, Colorado area.
Alice was a soft spoken woman and many people may not have known the incredible quiet strength, wisdom and bravery with which she walked through life. Her priorities were God and family and she loved her 4 children with a complete unconditional love. Alice was a poet and her wisdom, spirit, and sense of humor are woven into her work. She wrote about her love of nature, love of family and friends, Gods love of us, wisdom, as well as many funny little things. She had a sly sense of humor.
She loved to read, being in the garden, and anything else out of doors. Watching wild birds was a big passion as well, and she was not fond of seeing birds that were caged.
Alice is survived by 3 children, Ronald Starrett (and wife Antoinette) of Centennial, Colorado; Gary Starrett (and wife Joyce) of Wichita, Kansas; and Carol Keener (and husband Ron) of Thornton, Colorado. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Wanda Brewer, her parents Bill and Lottie Pullar, and all 10 of her older brothers and sisters; Guy, Nora, Ervin, Pat, Tressa, Nellis, Harold, Clinton, Leon, and Rellis (listed eldest to youngest).
A memorial service to celebrate Alice's life will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, July 7th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 190 Potomac Street, Aurora, CO 80011.
The family requests that if any donations are made in Alice's honor that they be made to Northglenn Heights Assisted Living, 11475 Pearl Street, Northglenn CO, where Alice received love and care during her last six months of life.
