Alijah Allen Mark Garcia

April 6, 1998 — May 5, 2017

Alijah Allen Mark Garcia left this earth at the young age of 19 years old on May 5, 2017 at 0022 in the loving arms of his mother, father and oldest sister. His death was sudden and unexpected, he will be missed by so many.
Alijah was born in Denver, Co on April 6, 1998 to Felicia Garcia and Jeff Martinez and became Aylena Garcia's first little brother. Aylena was ready with open arms at not even three years of age to hold her new baby brother and immediately formed a very unique and special bond with him. She was like his lil mommy always eager to help in any way she could.
Alijah was always a very special boy whom accelerated at anything and everything he did, in fact we enrolled him in a Montessori program at the age of 3 because it was very obvious how fast his little brain was constantly moving. He was able to read independently by the age of 4 and was extremely lucky to have the guidance of our late Aunt MaryAngela Abeyta (passed May, 9 2015). Alijah was closer to MaryAngela than anyone in this world and he made it known, her death was a very difficult time for him and I think he struggled with it till the day he left this earth. Alijah played various sports over the years including baseball and football but wrestling seemed to be his love from the time he was 6 till he was halfway through HS.
He struggled some with his Sophomore and Junior year leading him to leave HS at one point to pursue his "adult" life. He decided to become an electrician like his father, his uncle and many of his other cousins and extended family members. He enjoyed his time as an apprentice which lasted 3-4 months but decided he wanted to return to High School and graduate. He had a new dream... he wanted to become a Marine.
At the time of his death he was just days away from graduation and had already signed to join the Marines. He was set to depart for boot camp training on August 14, 2017. He had plans and he was pretty excited about them. However like any teenager on the cusp of entering adulthood and leaving behind his childhood he felt the stresses of the hows, the whys and what ifs. Plus he had a car that he was so in love with, so he also maintained a part-time job at a local Walmart to mostly fund his car expenses but also his stylish clothing, shoes and countless meals with good friends. Alijah had a personality unlike anyone in this world and from all the many people that called him friend, brother or even one of the most respectful young men they ever met... I can see now that he left everyone he encountered with that same impression. He could always make you laugh, sometimes cry because he was very straight forward and held no punches but he was also one of the most loving and caring individuals you could possibly ever meet. He had the biggest heart ever and if he loved you, you were special because his love was so genuine and not given lightly.I know he was always sure to find a way to put a smile on his momma's face by telling me how beautiful I was or just how much he loved me... we had our own special bond, he was my #1 and we always joked about how he was my favorite child. Now don't get me wrong, I love them all but he was definitely very special to me in a way I can never explain. Just something I felt from the first time he kicked inside my belly. I know he was special to many, to his father he was his hero... his greatest hero. He wouldve made a great Marine. We were all very proud of him and made sure to tell him every chance we got.
Alijah's family continued to grow over the years and he leaves behind his parents (Felicia Garcia & Robert Brekke) (Jeff & Crystal Martinez) oldest sister (Aylena Garcia & Joshua Krueger), two younger brothers (Kaden Martinez and Robert Brekke), two step siblings (AJ and Celeste Alvarado), a younger sister (Kira "Rey" Martinez), a new baby sister due to be born in September, his only nephew (Kal Krueger) and a new baby niece due to be born in June. His Grandparents (Joann and Duane Myers), immediate uncles and aunts (Richard Cordova, Leeanne Martinez and Margaret Cordova), his godfather (Andrew Martinez), many numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family including all of his friends that called him brother or even their "person". Fly high Superman, we love you.
