Alonzo (Big Al) Moore Jr. was born August 25th 1928 to Jonnie Starks and Alonzo Moore Sr. they moved to Muskegon, Oklahoma where Alonzo was raised.
Alonzo was a star athlete that excelled in Running, Baseball and Boxing. He had a special love of animals primarily Horses and Dogs. He cared for and rescued many throughout his life time. He left behind Max, Henry his dogs and Gloria his Horse.
Alonzo answered the call to join the Armed Forces at a young age and served 23yrs, he retired First Sergeant after serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. During that time he married Lillian Moore they had 4 amazing Children. Cheryl Ann Bates, Tommy Eugene Moore, Theresa Moore and Alonzo Moore III. Alonzo and Lillian later separated.
After being assigned a tour in Willingham, Germany Alonzo met his Second Wife Bente Yisa Heltborg Moore of 46 years, she proceeded him is Death.
Alonzo had a zeal for life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. He was an avid jokester and a master of pranks.
Alonzo worked for the school district as a janitor for many years and loved giving the young people a run for their money. He took pride in keeping the floors waxed, shiny and the classrooms pristine.
As Alonzo got up in age he was force to slow down a bit in activities, however you could still find him out at "Friends of Horses" stable where he housed his baby Gloria or at his Denver residence in the front yard with His dogs smoking a cigar.
Alonzo left behind his love, Ethelene Whitsel which took care of him in his later years, Martavius Carter, and Daniel Epperson his Honorary Sons that also aided in his care his honorary Daughters Ebony and Tamika Vines, his sister-n-law Bitten H. Petersen (of Denmark), best friend Olga Barksdale (of California) grandchildren, great grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, friends, family, as well as his fellow Lions Club members.
