Alvin A. Rivoire

March 7, 1941 — September 19, 2017

Alvin A. Rivoire, 76, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. He passed on peacefully in his sleep with his wife at his bedside holding his hand.

He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Sherynn A. Marchiondo Rivoire, daughter Michelle R. McNamee & her husband David, daughter Diana L Riggs & her husband Brian, son Alvin A. Rivoire Jr., son Micheal P. Rivoire, and son Joseph G. Rivoire & his wife Ronda, grandchildren Billy, Natasha, Erica, Jordon, Travis, Branden, Nick, and Briesjiet, and great grandchildren Athena, Jayden, Bailey, Lillianna, and Connor.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Rivoire, his mother Eula Mae Guidry, sister Marie Rivoire, brother Charles Rivoire Jr., and brother Freddie Rivoire.

He was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on March 7, 1941. He attended Lafayette High School; and later as a teenager, he met the love of his life Sherynn on a blind date going to the roller rink. They married April 27, 1963 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and they welcome their first child Michelle Rivoire in February of 1964.

With big hopes and dreams, he moved his wife and children to Denver, Colorado in June of 1970. He loved the mountains and called it God's Country. He hoped to one day create a Christian retreat in the mountains with cabins on the lake to spend time with their children and grandchildren to come.

He was a hard-working family man with a strong work ethic and desire to provide for his family. Upon moving to Denver he started his own janitorial business. After years of running the janitorial business he worked at Combs for 25 years. To keep busy after retirement he found a job with Greenwood Village Parks and Recreation. He worked for Greenwood Village for 25 years and retired in June of 2016.

When he wasn't working he enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family. He and his wife recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Florida with all of their children and grandchildren. He has always had a special bond with children and they loved to spend time with him. One of his favorite things to do each year was to get tickets for his grandchildren to enjoy Greenwood Village Day and the evening fireworks show. He took pride in being able to provide his family with such a fun event as well as showing off his children and grandchildren to his co-workers.

He lived a very full life surrounded by a large family and many friends, and will be missed by all. Until they meet again in heaven, his memory will live on in their hearts.
