Alyce Eleanor Rogers, a long-time resident of Littleton, has joined her soul mate in a heavenly home on December 31, 2012, She passed away in her sleep at Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Center in Aurora, CO.
Alyce married George N. "Rog" Rogers in Texas in 1947 and together they raised five children. They met while George was a taxi driver in Denver and in their courting days she gave George the nickname of "Rog". He passed away in 2009.
Born in Haxtun, CO January 20, 1926 to Nathan David Williams of Missouri and Mildred Catherine Mutchie of Nebraska, she is the last of five children to pass on and survived by her beloved children and their spouses: David (Diane) Rogers, Newton Rogers, Trish (Don) Hartmann, Delton Rogers, Trina (Scott) Rogers; her grandchildren John, Vint, Jed, Aaron, Clarissa, Hans, Brenna, Ryan, Kyla, Scot, Luke, Janae, Miriam, and Amber and her great grandchildren Josephine, Ellyot, Jacob, Wyatt, Lauren, Hunter and Mahalia.
She will be dearly missed by her family and community. Alyce was an amazing woman with a huge heart of gold. She would offer the shirt off her back and the food on her plate to someone who needed it. Her love and compassion was shown regularly to family, friends and strangers alike. She willingly raised three children, who had been abandoned by a friend, for three years until forced to turn them over to the state. She was a modern-thinking woman before many women of her time were and a great example to all who knew her. She was honest, hardworking, a skilled seamstress, and gracious hostess. She is well known for her avid ability to find anything at a garage sale. As a bus driver for Littleton Public Schools for over 30 years and working in the schools as a Parapro many years after, she touched many young hearts of the children in her community.
There will be a public viewing at the Newcomer Funeral Home (901 S. Sheridan Blvd. in Denver) on Friday, January 11th from 10:00am to 12:00 noon, followed by a graveside service at Littleton Cemetery at 1:00pm.
