Amelia V. Gorniak, 93, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2013. She was born to parents John and Agatha VonFeldt on January 24, 1919 in Ellis County, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Sylvester Gorniak. She is survived by loving sons Allen (Jackie) and Robert; grandchildren Dawn Gorniak, Matt Curtis, and Jennifer (Kyle) Knott; and three great-grandchildren Michael, Daisha and Kody; numerous family and friends. Millie retired from Nabisco in 1985 after 25 years.
Millie had a great sense of humor. She had an infectious giggle that was present right up to her last breath. Over the last several months, her giggle endeared her to her various caregivers. Her positive thoughts and presence was an inspiration to everyone she met. We will miss her deeply.
Millie was devout in her faith. A few days ago, when asked if she knew where she was, Millie smiled and said she was on her way to heaven, but was in limbo at the moment.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 24th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3100 W. 76th Ave., Westminster, CO.
Donations may be made to Collier Hospice Center, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
