Andrew Delfinio Lucero, passed away February 13, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born to Pete and Cornelia Lucero, June 24, 1949 in Trinidad, Co. He was one of twenty-one children.
Andrew to some but "Andy" to many was an E-5 Sgt in the Marine Corps. He completed 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on June 15, 1975. Andy was a proud Vietnam Veteran.
After the service he worked on the Port Hueneme Navy Base in Oxnard, California for many years. He left there in February 1993 to return to Denver with his family. After being in Denver for about 2 years he was then employed by the US Postal Service in which he retired from in 2008.
Andy was a member of the V.F.W. and The American Legion in Commerce City, Co. He was always proud to be a part of the float for the Memorial Day Parade that was held in Commerce City. He would always call to make sure that his kids and grandkids would be there in the audience to cheer on the fellow Veterans.
Andy is survived by 5 children: Veronica Jones, Lynnette Winston, Charles Vigil, Johnny Vigil, Matthew Lucero. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Megan DeSpain, Kaitlyn Engle, Tahisha Gallegos, Adrian Vigil, Cassidy DeSpain, Alexis Vigil, Charles Vigil,Jr, DeAndre Winston and Da'Sean Winston. Andy is also survived by 3 great grandchildren: Jada Daniels, Maliki Daniels and Makailia Daniels. He is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends.
A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home from 10am to 11am, Tuesday, February 25, 2014 and the service will start following the viewing at 11am. After the service he will be buried at Ft Logan National Cemetery.
