OBITUARY
Angelina Vigil Ruiz-Bayles
AGE: 90
DOB: 11/11/1922
CITY/STATE: Thornton, Co.
Mom was born in Chacon, New Mexico on 11/11/1922. She was the fifth of ten siblings, born to Ursulita and Gavino Vigil. Her parents raised them well with love and hard work. Mom proudly shared of how she helped care for her younger siblings. In high school, mom lived with beloved aunts Jenny and Cleo in Raton, New Mexico and attended Allison James Boarding School. There she met our precious father, Raymond Ruiz Sr. After a brief courtship they married. Dad followed mom to Chacon carrying her wedding dress in a suitcase looking for the waterfall that would lead to her mother's home. He was searching for his bride. They were married for 55 years until the Lord took daddy home in 1997.
Mom and dad had 10 children; the first five were raised in Chacon. They are: (Butch) Raymond Ruiz Jr., Nicholas Ruiz, Angelina Bustos-Martinez, Helen Ruiz and Vincent Ruiz. (Butch) Raymond Jr. and Vincent have since passed. They have now been reunited with momma and daddy in glory. Momma is survived by her younger brother Joe Vigil.
Mom and dad moved to Denver, Colorado and had a second family of five more children. They are: Robert Ruiz, Frank Ruiz, Esther Ruiz-Morris, Mary Frances Ruiz-Herrera and Raymond Ruiz Jr. III. Dad and mom had 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Mom and dad raised us all in church. Their greatest desire was that we and our children serve the Lord. They gave us Jesus which is the greatest gift of all.
Mom remarried at the age of 79 to Alfred Bayles, a sweet and delightful gentleman. He currently resides in a nursing home with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's.
Mom was a woman ahead of her time, and very wise beyond her years. In her 50s she attended classes to become a certified seamstress and upholsterer. She wrote poetry, several of which were published. Mom composed gospel songs and learned to play the guitar, and sang her heart out to the Lord. Mom earned her high school equivalency diploma in her 60s, and was still driving a car until she was 81 years old.
Mom loved flowers and gardening. Her homes were beautiful inside and out. Mom received may awards for her gardening, canning of vegetables and fruits, and curing of meats. Mom was a homemaker who took great pride in creating a welcoming and loving home. She was a true lady.
One of mom and dad's greatest accomplishments was the involvement in the establishment of the Assembly of God Church in Mora, New Mexico; the roots of which began from a small weekly bible study in their home in Chacon. Mom and dad opened their home for worship and fellowship. No one ever left mom and dad's bible studies with an empty stomach for they were fed both spiritually and physically.
