Angie P. Perez

July 18, 1932 — December 31, 2013

Long time Durango resident Angie Perez passed away on December 31, 2013 in Aurora, Colorado with her family at her side. She was 81 years old.
Angelina Priscilla Gutierrez was born to parents Benesealo Gutierrez and Soraida Cordova on July 18, 1932 in Lonetree, Colorado, Archuleta County, a small town located about 20 miles to the west of Pagosa Springs in southwest Colorado. She grew up in that area spending much of her childhood in Tiffany, Colorado and attending school in Ignacio. After marriage and brief stays in Denver and Utah, Angie settled in the Durango area where she remained until 2008. She relocated to Denver at that time to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by two beloved sisters Ruby Perez of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Theresa Baines of Denver as well as one brother, Orlando Gutierrez of Cedar Hills, New Mexico. In addition, Angie has two daughters Rickie Rojas of Aurora and Michelle Hackney of Reno, Nevada and four sons Ron Perez of Aurora , Ken Perez of Centennial, Colorado, Gerald Perez of Santa Barbara, California and Russel Perez of Denver. There are 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear brothers Ross Archuleta and Levi Archuleta and her daughter Mary Radden.

Angie was very active in Durango community affairs spending numerous years as a volunteer for the local battered women's shelter, the Mercy Medical Auxiliary, and serving on the local low income housing weatherization board.
She thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and the mountains active in fishing, camping and hunting, loved spending time with family and friends and was a very talented cook. Admired by just about anyone who had the privilege to meet her, Angie had a big heart and was always quick to think of others before herself not hesitating to lend a generous hand and a prayer in times of need. She taught by example and always offered her unconditional love to those who knew and loved her most.

Angie was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend and will be dearly missed.
