Ann passed away on November 22, 2013 at home and surrounded by family.
Anna Marie was born in Prairie du Chien, WI on June 19, 1923 to Edward and Marie (Casperson) Devenport. Her childhood was spent primarily in Mt. Sterling, WI. During WWII she worked as a riveter. She then moved to Madison where she finished a business school program, which led to work in state government. It was there that she met her husband, Donald, who was a pilot flying students from Iowa. They were married in Mt. Sterling on Nov. 15, 1945. She left Wisconsin to live in Iowa, Illinois, New York, and, eventually, Colorado for the last 40 years.
Ann was the embodiment of a homemaker and devoted her life to her family and helping others. She worked for hospital volunteer services in Suffolk Co. NY, DuPage Co. ILL, and over 35 years with Lutheran Hospital in Wheatridge, CO where she continued well into her 80's. She was a member of the women's circle at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed hiking, skiing, bicycling, tennis, golf, playing bridge and gardening. However, her family knows her best for her uncompromising devotion to giving of herself to make the best of times for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She could bring a little magic to any family occasion.
She is survived by her husband; her son Stephen (Laurel) of Denver, CO and daughter Susan (Craig) Gammill of Elko, NV; her grandchildren Christian and Amanda Mohr and Alex (Trina) and Aisling Gammill; her great-grandchildren Austin, Madeline, and Tabitha in Colorado and Leander and Xiamara in Nevada. She is also survived by her brothers Edward of Prairie du Chien and James of Postville, IA.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Margaret (Nederlo) of Viroqua, WI.
Memorial services were held on Nov. 26, 2013 at the Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, Lakewood, CO and her final resting place will be in Mr. Sterling, WI. Memorials can be made to the church: 2035 Ellis St., Lakewood, CO 80401.
