Obituary
Anna Bingaman

Anna Bingaman was born Anna Josephine Brown on December 20, 1913, on a farm southeast of McDonald, KS. She had an older sister, Sarah, and was joined by a younger brother, Elmer.

Ann attended a one-room country school through 8th grade. She often talked about riding a horse to school where they would tie it up until they got out of school and then they would ride it home. She graduated from McDonald Rural High School and enjoyed going to the annual reunion day held on Memorial Day weekend at that school.

Ann married Glen "Lefty" Reneau on January 12, 1933. They enjoyed going to dances with their friends and even later in their marriage would hear a tune on the radio and get up and dance a few steps which was fun to watch. They had four children, Phyllis, Bob, Ronnie and Janie.

Ann was a hard worker and every Saturday night was spent shining shoes and getting clothes ready for Sunday School the next day. She was an active member of Eastern Star while living in Kansas and was honored two years ago for a 75 year membership.

Ann lost her mother two weeks after the birth of her third child.

When World War II broke out, Lefty wanted to do something to help that effort and they moved to Wichita, KS, where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. When they returned to McDonald after the war there was a housing shortage so they purchased a store front on the main street and added an apartment in the back where they lived until the fall in 1957 when they moved to a farm nine miles south of McDonald. It was there on March 17, 1961, that Lefty passed away. Ann stayed on the farm with the help of her father, Frank Brown, until the following fall when she moved to Denver to be closer to her daughters.

At this point in her life people started calling her Ann and she met and married Robert Bingaman on August 10, 1963. They purchased a liquor store in Louisville, CO, which Bob ran and Anna went to work at Neusteter's Beauty Shop in Boulder, CO. She really enjoyed the people she worked with there and maintained friendships with some late in her life. It was during this time that she lost her father and her third child, Ronnie, and it was a very difficult time for her.

When they retired they moved around a bit until they landed in Battlement Mesa on the west slope near Rifle. They enjoyed an active social life there and made many friends. After a few years they moved to Grand Junction because of Bob's health and he died there. Shortly after he passed away, Anna's first child, Phyllis, pasased away after having fought cancer and it's ravages on her body. When Phyllis passed away Anna moved back to the Denver area.

Anna decided to go back to work and was employed by Price Club (later Costco) until after her 80th birthday. When her daughter retired and moved to Erie, CO, she moved to Erie also. Her decline in health started shortly after that and she received a couple of stints and a pacemaker.

After 97 years 5 months Anna's life ended at Exempla Colorado Lutheran Home when she had lived 3 1/2 years. The caregivers were good to her and she bonded with some of them on a very deep level.
