Mutz, Anne C., who died at age 96 on May 2, 2015, lived a long and rewarding life. Born in 1918, Anne was one of seven children in a family of Slovakian immigrants who settled in Whiting, Indiana. Anne's life arced from the era of the telegraph to Skyping with family and friends throughout the world. In her long life, she was an amateur actress, a Gray Lady during WWII, a golfer, skier, world traveller, avid poker player, and faithful member and lay-leader of the Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic minister and lector, president of the Women's Guild at St. Pius X parish, president of the National Laywomen's Retreat Movement, and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She is remembered as gracious, elegant, and loving. She will be missed by her family and many friends and is especially loved and survived by her three children, Thomas, Susan, and Kathryn, Eugen Zadra, her grandchildren, Frederick, Ethan and Leah, her great grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell, Alaina, Destiny, Anjah, Isaiah, and Jaden, and by her children's partners, Mary, Zvezdana, Paolo, and Chet. It is hard to imagine the world without her.
