Annetta Marie Cox

August 23, 1938 — December 14, 2014

Annetta Marie Cox, 76, of Aurora, passed away Sunday December 14, 2014.

She was born to Alice Annetta Lloyd and the late David Thomas Lloyd, August 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA. Annetta graduated from Taylor-Allderdice High School in 1956. She married the late William Wilbur Cox in 1957, and they lived together in the Pittsburgh area before living a short time in Maryland. In 1974, they permanently settled in the Denver/Aurora area.

Originally, Annetta was a stay at home mom. She then worked at Bob's Arts and Crafts in the Hoffman Heights Shopping Center, followed by a position at Cost Plus Imports at Mississippi and I-225, in Aurora. In 1989, she took a position as a clerk in the work release program of the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department, where she stayed until her retirement in 2005.

Like her mother, Annetta was an avid reader and loved to play games. Her competitive spirit when playing Mahjong, Scrabble, Canasta and many other games was clearly passed down to her children and grandchildren. Anytime was a good time for games with her family. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, usually knowing the answers before anyone else had a clue.

Annetta is survived by her mother: Alice Annetta Lloyd of Pittsburgh, PA. She has one surviving sibling: David T. Lloyd of Canton, NY. She had two brothers who passed before her: Duane O. Lloyd of Phoenix, AZ and Keith B. Lloyd of Ruffs Dale, Pa; She also had one sister who proceeded her in passing: Daryl Elaine McCallister of Bolsa Chica, Huntington Beach, CA. Annetta is also survived by three grandsons: Stephen D. Wilson of Denver; and Anthony and Jeremy Bublitz, both of Aurora. She has one surviving granddaughter: Melissa Marie Baesler of Cheyenne, WY. She is also survived by three great-grandsons: Noah, Thomas and Aiden, all of Cheyenne, WY.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Denver Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Memorial services will be held at the Newcomer East Mortuary Chapel at 190 Potomac, Aurora, CO at 2pm on Monday, December 22. Her interment with family will be held at the Cox Family Plot in Greensburg, PA in late April of 2015.
