ANNETTE BENSON LEHMAN 10-11-1954 / 07-24-2026

Words fail to express our feelings at the loss of our beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, Annette Benson Lehman, who left this earth far too soon on July 24, 2026 in Strasburg, Colorado following a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on October 11, 1954, in Fort Ord, California to Bob F. and Lynn Goodrich Benson. While still a young child, her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, and then Roosevelt, Utah. Annette graduated from Union High School in Roosevelt in 1972. Annette married the love of her life, Richard Duane Lehman, on May 4, 1973 in Roosevelt, Utah and they just celebrated 53 years of marriage. They lived in Naples (UT), Roosevelt (UT), and Rock Springs (WY) before settling in Strasburg (CO) to raise their two sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Lyle, mother- and father-in-law Marlys and Orval Lehman, and sister-in-law Tammy Yeaman. Annette is survived by her husband Rick, sons Ken and Grant (Tina), and her siblings Brent (Jennie), Jeff (Jennifer), and Keith, and multiple nieces and nephews. We will always remember Annette’s smile, her laughter, her kindness—but, most of all, her deep love for all of us. She was a gentle, soft-spoken soul who rarely, if ever, had an unkind word to say about anyone. She was supportive of those around her, quick to laugh, and happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved. Annette was a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother. Rick liked to joke that Annette believed her “sole job in life was to make him look good,” and she spent a lifetime doing just that. She threw herself wholeheartedly into the lives of their sons, supporting them in everything from school and sports to baseball cards and Star Wars collectibles. She volunteered at their school, encouraged their academics, and took a genuine interest in whatever interested them. She was, quite simply, a wonderful boy mom. Family gatherings were among Annette’s favorite things, and she loved being with the people she cared about. She played the piano for her own enjoyment for many years and delighted in playing bingo and entering sweepstakes and contests—and especially in winning them. She also enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, although the family freely admits that the produce aisle was often a more successful source of tomatoes. Annette brought fun and laughter wherever she went. To her cousins, siblings, nieces and nephews, she was more than simply a relative; she was a treasured part of their lives and memories. Her gentle nature, ready laughter, and unfailing kindness made people feel loved and accepted. Above all, Annette loved deeply. She loved Rick, her boys, her family, and the people fortunate enough to be part of her life. That love is the legacy she leaves behind—and the reason she leaves an angel-sized hole in our hearts.
