Arletta L Bennett( Wegner) , 86, of Aurora Colorado
Passed away April 10, 2025.
She was born on November 4th, 1938, in Onaga, Kansas, the daughter of Erwin and Clara Wegner. She Graduated from Wamego High School.
On March 24, 1962, she married the love of her life Richard M Bennett after meeting him in Myrtle Beach as the payroll clerk for military pay. Arletta took to being a military wife like it was her purpose and calling to support her husband through several tours of duties along with him and while he was away. Her favorite place that she would talk so fondly of was their Tour of Duty in Germany. Even though it was short lived traveling to Germany, Italy and Holland created fond memories and many pictures.
After her husband’s discharge from the Army, Arletta went to work for the Federal Government in Aurora Colorado working her way up from typing clerk in the personnel department at Fitzsimons Medical Center to retiring 30 years later as GS 13 for the Department of Defense, Supervisor of Employee Relations civil service.
Following her retirement Arletta and Richard settled into retirement life quite easily. Arletta enjoyed being an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. After so many winters her and Richard decided to be snowbirds and moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona at first just for the winters then it became a permanent home in 2009. That is where she enjoyed playing golf with the women’s group and was very active at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sierra Vista. In 2019 her and Richard moved back to Colorado.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, and she loved to read and play bridge.
Arletta is survived two children, Randy J (Barbara) Bennett and Judi L (Nate) Miller; four Grandchildren Heather L. (Joe) Rowland, Erin C. (Cody) Mintle, Thomas B.
