Asuncion Bolivar, lovingly known as Siony (pronounced “Shaw-nee”), passed away on October 19, 2026, in Aurora, Colorado, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 8, 1940, in Pamplona, Philippines.
Siony is survived by her children Jay (Tasha), Ida Mae (Chris), and Lee (Josh); precious grandchildren Elliot, Ian, Cooper, Logan, Ethan, Alexandra, and Zoe; and former husband Simon. She is further survived by her sister Amy (Natzie), brothers Joven (Puring) and Joel, and a close-knit group of cousins including Edith (Wilbert) and Billy (Vicky), all of whom lovingly cared for her at her bedside in her final weeks. She leaves behind adored nieces, nephews and grandchildren who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nicolas, Ester and Mercedes; and her brothers Jose “Boboy” and Jimmy.
Siony lived a life marked by devotion to family, enduring faith, deep friendship and disciplined work. She was a devoted and loyal mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, auntie, and friend who fostered close relationships with loved ones near and far.
Her education reflected both her intelligence and commitment to her profession. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from Centro Escolar University in Manila, Philippines, in 1963, and completed post-graduate studies at the St. Luke Hospital School of Medical Technology in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, in 1966.
In 1967, Siony began her career at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut, where she worked until 1969. During her years in New England from 1965 to 1969, she formed lifelong bonds with friends who remained devoted to her until her last days. She returned to the Philippines from 1969 to 1989 before moving permanently back to the United States and settling in Aurora, Colorado. After her return to the U.S., she worked as a microbiologist for Quest Diagnostics until her retirement.
Among Siony’s greatest joys were her family and the life she built around caring for them. Her proudest accomplishment was her three children, whom she proudly put through school and whose careers she supported by caring for their children. Her happiest moments were spent with her seven grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life.
She also found happiness in the everyday pursuits that reflected her energy and spirit. She loved to garden and was an avid gym rat. Strong and steadfast in her faith, she was a devoted Christian and an adored member of Crosswind Church. Her family is eternally grateful for the support of her church family, including Gina, Nancy, Misha, Kristhine, Evelyn, and Emma, all of whom tenderly cared for her while she was sick, and Pastor Ramon and his wife Guia.
Siony leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, generosity, and steadfast love. She gave deeply to her children, delighted in her grandchildren, worked with care and excellence, and nurtured the many relationships that defined her life. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
