Aurea M. Figueroa, 81, of Aurora, passed away September 2, 2015.
She was born March 1, 1934 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Inocencio Morales and Serafina Torres. She was a graduate of Academia Santa Teresita High School. On August 1, 1958 she married Alfonso Figueroa, of Naranjito, Puerto Rico. They lived together in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, before relocating to Aurora, Colorado in 1992.
Aurea was a wonderful wife, mother and a friend. She loved to cook, take care of her family and visiting garages sales on the weekends.
Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor.
Before her illness, she loved working in the yard and taking care of her beautiful flowers. She had a unwavering faith in God, a woman of faith and the heart of her family.
Aurea is survived by her husband, Alfonso Figueroa; four children, Yadira Figueroa, Luis (Alicia) Figueroa, Carlos (Melba) Figueroa, and Daniel Figueroa; nine grandchildren, Joey (Anna) Ocasio, Yasdelle (Marvin) Breaux, Darien McCullom, Gian Figueroa, Nicole Figueroa, Sara Figueroa, Paco Figueroa, Sofia Figueroa, and Marcos Figueroa; six great-grandchildren, Quincy Breaux, Ella Breaux, Alicia Ocasio, Maya Ocasio, Zoey Ocasio, and Jayden Rust; siblings, Antonia Torres, Josefina Torres, Francisco Santiago, and Carmen M. Serrano. She is preceded in death by her parents, Inocencio Morales and Serafina Torres; and siblings, Angel Luis Archilla and Sara Santiago.
There will be no viewing of the body. The cremation will take place on September 10, 2015 and the ashes will be taken to Puerto Rico at a later date for burial. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers. If you wish to make a donation please do it to:
