Barbara "Joan" Hansen

Barbara Joan Hansen passed peacefully from this life on June 30, 2011.

Joan, as she was called all her life, was born on April 15, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Emmett and Ruth Wilding Burgess. She was the oldest of four children and is survived by sisters Susan and Marilyn and brother Bill. She was married on July 22, 1953 to Richard Hansen who predeceased her on July 17, 2001.

Joan was the mother to Deborah J. Barton who with her husband Dale has four children, Emily Williams, Falin, Marin and Shane Barton. All survive her.

A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Joan served in many callings in the church. These included Relief Society President and teacher in Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society.

Joan was a homemaker choosing to raise her daughter and support her husband as the most important contribution she could make. She passed away in her daughter's home after a long illness.

The family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to all those who gave so generously of their time and emotional support during her illness.
