Barbara Lee Fischer, 72, of Burlington, passed away August 3, 2015.
She was born May 27, 1943 in Williston, North Dakota, the daughter of Harvey and Laura (Zimmerman) Haney. She was a graduate of Williston High School. She graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital Nursing School in Dickinson, North Dakota. On August 25, 1966, she married Herbert Fischer.
Barbara worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Children's Hospital until 1973.
She loved to make dolls, to draw and read. Above all, Barbara loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never knew a stranger. She easily made friends wherever she went, whether it was at the doll shop in Denver or at the Senior Center in Washington. Barbara was an eternal optimist and very spiritual. She never lost her faith in God, even in the roughest times in her life. She always would remind her family, "It could be worse...."
Barbara is survived by Two Daughters, Kimberly Ann (Mike) Fox, Sarah N. (Laurence) Christensen; Two Sons, William H. Fischer, Kevin H. Fischer; Three Brothers, Harvey Leroy (Helen) Haney, Ralph (Marianne) Haney, Paul (Pearl) Haney; Sister, Arlene (Mike) Guttormson; Five grandchildren, Branden Fox, Derick Fox, Kristi Fox, Kara Chavez, Krysta Chavez; Three Great-Grandchildren, Gabriel Chavez, Elijah Chavez, Kai Walker; and Many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Father, Harvey Haney, Mother, Laura Ethel Haney, Brother, Robert Duane Haney, Sister, Lora Jane Kries and Husband, Herbert J. Fischer.
