Barbara Jean Waldvogle

December 3, 1925 — May 17, 2018

Barbara Jean Waldvogle, 92, of Evergreen, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, May 17, 2018.

She was born on December 3, 1925 in Greeley, Colorado. She was raised by her mother, Barbara and her stepfather, Gaylord Clark.

While living South of Akron, Colorado, she met a tall, dark, handsome cowboy. They fell in love and less than a year after graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Ernest Waldvogle, on March 31, 1944. When Ernie returned from serving in the US Navy during WWII, Barbara and Ernie started their life together as ranchers near Edwards, Colorado. Their firstborn son, Jerald "Jerry" was born in 1947 and Michael "Mike" in 1951. Shortly after Michael was born they sold the ranch and moved to Denver. Barbara gave birth to a daughter, Robin, in 1954 and the family settled into life in southwest Denver.

Barbara worked in the local school cafeteria and enjoyed a short career as an Avon representative.

She enjoyed singing in her trio at church, going on vacations, camping and visiting friends and family. When Ernie retired, they toured much of the US in their 5th wheel trailer and took trips to Mexico as well. She also would host her sister Lou, husband Charles and children Russ and Gayle at the house in Denver frequently. She enjoyed trips to Alaska to visit her daughter Robin, husband Joe, and grandson Jered.

Her faith, love and devotion to Ernie was never more apparent that when Jerry died in a house trailer fire in 1981. Together, with the loving support of their family, they were able to help each other through the heartache.

When Ernie went to be with the Lord in 2000, Barbara moved to Conifer, Colorado to live with her son Mike and his wife Linda. She attended the Senior Resource Center of Evergreen where her positive, outgoing personality was evident and made things fun. For the last 6 years, she resided at the Life Care Center of Evergreen where she was cared for by a loving staff. She participated in every activity possible and especially loved to sing and participate in art activities, from which she received awards from the Alzheimer's Association's "Memories in the Making." Of course, Barbara never wanted to miss Bingo or Church. During her last days, for no apparent reason, she would often burst out in joyful song.

Above all, Barbara will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed motherhood and cherished any time that she could spend with her grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.
