Benjamin J. Van Deest

March 2, 1930 — March 24, 2013

Benjamin J. Van Deest, 83, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 following a heart attack and other medical complications. He was born on March 2, 1930 in Holland, Iowa to Adolph B Van Deest and Grace (Werkman) Van Deest.

He is survived by three siblings, Winona Lauterbach (Stan) of Waterloo, Iowa, Dick Van Deest (Nancy) of Lafayette, MN and Erma Thompson (Larry) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and five children, Curtiss Van Deest, Darrel Van Deest (Mary), Deborah Hawt horne, Eugene Van Deest (Janice) and Connie Trimble (David). He had 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Ben moved to the Denver area in the summer of 1965. He worked for Mile High Heating, Urban Engineering (retiring after 20 years) and Summit Labs. He then began doing volunteer work for Have a Heart and the Fish Food Pantry ministry at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was active in the square dance community for 42 years and at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

There will be another memorial service with burial in Grundy Center, Iowa at a later date.
