Bennie F. Lucero, 91, of Denver, passed away January 20, 2017.
He was born September 21, 1925 in Gladstone, New Mexico, the son of Nicomedes and Sofia (Vigil) Lucero.
He was first married to Polly Romero. She preceded him in death in February 1965. He later married Concepcion De Medina and she preceded him in death in June 2004.
He honorably served in the US Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier USS Salamaua where he survived a kamikaze attack and a typhoon. He received a Purple Heart for his actions in combat.
Bennie is survived by Three Children, David D. Lucero, RoseLee (Eloy) Lopez and Samuel E. (Vanessa) Lucero; Eight Grandchildren, Corrina (Jorge) Hernandez, Davina Lucero, Eloy S. Lopez, Jr., Michael A. (LayLay) Lopez, Paulita M. (Fidel) Diaz, Adam L. Lucero, Alex L. Lucero and Ajay L. Lucero; Eleven Great-Grandchildren, Daniella M. Hernandez, Arianna D. Hernandez, Madison L. Hernandez, Alyssa R. Hernandez, Mariah R. Diaz, Sierra E. Lopez, Leandro E. Diaz, Isabella M. Lopez, Jasmine M. Lopez, Jacob Z. Lopez and Grace Z. Lopez; Four Sisters, Virginia (Fidel) Torres, Lena Cordova, MaryAlice Funderberg and Mary Gonzalez; Brother, Robert (Lucille) Sainz and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Polly Lucero and Concepcion Lucero; Parents, Nicomedes Lucero and Sofia Lucero Jiron; Son, Lorenzo Lawrence Lucero; Two Sisters, Matilda and Dora and brother, Eddie.
