Benny Gothard, age 70, of Portland, Oregon, raised in Humble, TX, passed away on March 10, 2017.
Benny was the beloved husband of 41 years to Carolyn Hope, loving dad to sons Mat and David and adoring Gramps and Papa of Ellie, Parker, Brooke, Addison, Brecken and Caden.
He is survived by his mother Clara; 2 sisters, Peggy and Betty; 4 brothers, Tommy, Steve, Paul, and Joe; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Benny was preceded in death by his father, James and brother Ricky. Benny came to know Jesus as his Savior when he was 15 and did his best through God's strength and support to serve his generation, family, church, friends, and others in a God honoring way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ken Caryl Church, www.kencarylchurch.org , your local church, The American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org in memory of Benny's father James B. Gothard, or to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at www.themmrf.org in memory of Benny M. Gothard.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at Ken Caryl Church. Reception in fellowship hall to follow.
