Beth E. Holzman

Beth Esther Holzman, 83, of Wheat Ridge, passed away October 3, 2013.

She was born August 31, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Theodora (Allen) Alpern.

Beth is survived by her 2 Daughters - Ellen B. Holzman of San Diego, CA and Gayle H. McCoy of Wheat Ridge, CO; Son - Robert W. Holzman of El Centro, CA.

Beth grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in history from Flora Stone Mather University. She married Jerry Holzman in 1953, and they were married for 30 years. Until 1971, they lived in North Hollywood California, where they raised their three children. When her children reached school-age, Beth earned her teaching certificate and taught elementary school in Los Angeles and later in Denver, where the family moved in 1971. After she and Jerry divorced, Beth worked for Mountain States Bank in Denver, staying with the bank until retirement at age 70.

As a mother and wife, Beth was very involved in her children's activities as they grew up, and she and Jerry also brought foster children into their home, something they continued to do well after their own children left home.

Beth was generous with her time and volunteered for many organizations, including ORT, a Jewish education non-profit organization. Even into her late 70s, Beth enjoyed helping her children. Whenever she visited California, she worked in her daughter Ellen's office in California, and volunteered in her son Robert's classroom. At home in Denver, she spent many happy hours with her daughter Gayle and her family. Beth enjoyed reading, knitting and travel, but her first love was always her family.
