Betty Lou Hershey

January 3, 1927 — March 20, 2017

Betty L. Hershey, 90, of Westminster, passed away March 30, 2017, surrounded by her children, grand-children and great-grandchildren living here in Denver.

She was born January 3, 1927 in Shelbina, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbur and Leona (Heathman) Long. She married Lindale W. Hershey in March 3, 1946 and had four children.

She was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church in Littleton, CO. Betty and her husband retired from Rocky Flats in 1989 where she worked as a purchasing secretary. After retirement, they traveled extensively across the US towing their fifth wheel. Betty loved spending time with her family, reading, doing crossword puzzles and attending church.

Betty is survived by three of her four children, Sharon Chappell, Jim Hershey, and Teresa (Scott) Nardelli all of Denver; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Standard, Krista (David) Patterson, Brian (Shanna) Hershey, Brad (Emily) Hershey, Lisa (Jeff) Mallette, Nicholas & Ryan Nardelli; ten great-grandchildren, Megan & Christian Patterson, Alyssa Forrester & Tayler Standard, Cody & Faye Hershey, Benjamin, Peter, & Madeleine Hershey, Corbin Mallette; a sister-in-law Vicky (Leonard) Moehle-Neff of Russelville, MO, and two nieces, Carolyn (Gary) Kasson of Rogers, AR and Shirley (Les) Ballinger of Burlington, IA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lindale W. Hershey; her son Larry D. Hershey; her son-in-law, Jack Chappell; parents, Wilbur and Leona Long; her sisters, Margaret Bixby and Vila Richards.

A Celebration of Betty's Life is planned for Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home. Private interment will be in the Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont, CO.
