Betty Lou Ebert

September 14, 1927 — October 26, 2015

Betty Lou Mahaffie was born on Sept 14th, 1927 in Olathe Kansas to Ira and Catherine Mahaffie. She was the youngest of three children. She had two brothers, Don and Howard. Her family moved to Denver when she was 4 years old. She grew up during the depression. Her father suffered several severe injuries; consequently, her family experienced lean times but they were also blessed by the frequent generosity of family and friends. She graduated from Westwood High School in 1945. She attended Redeemer Lutheran Church where she accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and later met the other love of her life, Art Ebert. She remembered seeing him walk into the church, when he returned home after serving in World War II, and thinking how she would love to date him. Surprisingly, before she left the church that day, he had walked up to her and set a date for that evening. They were married on October 5th, 1947. They struggled to have children; but after seven years God answered their prayers with a son, Andy. Betty Lou worked as an executive secretary for many years. She ended her career with Martin Marietta which is now Lockheed Martin. When she retired, she took up painting and joined an Art Guild. She was passionate about her artwork and participated in a number of art shows and sales. Her husband, Art, went to be with the Lord in 2009. They were married for over 61 years. Betty was devoted to her family and especially her son and grandsons, their wives, and her great grandchildren. Betty moved into an assisted living facility in June of this year. On her 88th birthday she fell and broke her leg. Unfortunately, her body struggled with recovery. On Wednesday, October 21st, she prayed that the Lord would deliver her from the prison of her failed body and receive her into the freedom and glory of Heaven. On Monday morning, October 26th, she slipped quietly into Jesus' arms. She is now dancing in heaven with Art and praising God in person. Betty is survived by her son Andy (Donna), her grandson Justin (Kristine), her grandson Jared (Jessica), and her great grandchildren Brooklynn, Cole, Evelyn, and Caleb.
