Bev Maschka died on March 21, 2013 after a short battle with liver cancer that progressed rapidly after a November diagnosis.
She was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt.
Bev was a kind and gentle person. She had a cheerful disposition, was funny and interesting. She was generous and was genuinely happy for the successes of those she loved. She was friend and confidante to her sisters and mother, their bond was of the deepest kind. She was private with her thoughts and feelings except to a few that knew her well, but she had a quick wit that would surprise you, especially given her humble demeanor. She held her nephew Ryan, dear to her heart, the love was reciprocated.
In her work career at American Express, ROLM telecommunications and IHS, Bev was a valued employee. She was detail oriented and a technical expert in various software programs related to telecommunications.
She was the family and friends "go to person" for trivia, especially related to movies, actors, music and history. She loved British humor and period art and movies.
Bev loved to travel. In her earlier years, she explored areas of France, Italy, England, Greece and Egypt. She was especially intrigued with Egyptian history dating back to the Pharaohs.
She also visited many beautiful areas of California, Colorado and Utah throughout the years.
When her sister Mary moved to Park City Utah, she became a regular visitor. She had many friends in the neighborhood and at Park City Community Church.
She embraced the outdoor lifestyle in Park City, trying Nordic skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and long walks and hiking in the summer. She loved to ride the chair lift in the warm months, packing a beer in her daypack for the slow ride up, soaking in the beauty.
The Sundance film festival and Park City Art Festival were favorite events of hers. Bev was refreshed and invigorated by spending time in Park City.
Her ashes were scattered along a path that she frequently walked in Park City, with a view to the mountains.
Bev was dearly loved. The following quote from Dickens expresses our profound loss....
"can it be that in a world so full and busy, the loss of one creature makes a void so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of eternity can fill it up."
A private memorial was held by her mother, brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers please send condolences to
Marian Maschka
