Beverly Tellefson (nee Morgan) of Aurora, Colorado, died September 1, 2025, at the age of 78, after a long battle with dementia.
“Bevy” was born in Washington, D.C. but raised in west Denver with her two beloved sisters, Barb and Teri.
She developed a love of music early on, performing at school and on her parents’ radio show, The House of Morgan. In the late sixties and early seventies, she became a popular performer in the Denver area, appearing with Lin and Dee, The Warming Trend, Synchrony, and Impulse. She developed a loyal legion of fans, owing to her razor-sharp wit, soulful vocals, movie-star good looks, and killer charisma.
When Dean Tellefson stepped in to replace the drummer in her band, their connection was instant. They married soon after and remained devoted to each other for the next 45 years. In the 1980s, they performed together, appearing as “Tellefson,” and Bev could be heard on many of the studio recordings Dean produced over the years.
Bev’s first marriage produced two daughters, Amy and Lexi, whom she loved beyond measure, and she was a proud grandmother to Josie and Finn.
She was an avid reader and crocheter and always had an interest in cooking whole foods. She was happy to inflict/share her whole wheat bread and alfalfa sprouts with her family.
She was strong-willed, hysterically funny, and devoted to those she loved. Though dementia robbed her of so much, it couldn’t take her essence--she laughed and sang to the very end. Not a day will go by that she will not be profoundly missed and deeply loved.
She is survived by her husband, Dean, daughters Amy Karet (Nathan) and Lexi Cottrell (Andrew Bodine), grandchildren Josie and Finn Karet, sisters Barbara Obel and Teresa Downard (Bob), five nieces, and many grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Dorothy Morgan.
She did not wish to have a funeral service. Her remains will be interred in a private ceremony at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
