Billy Brockington

March 7, 1938 — November 10, 2011

In the book of 2 Timothy 4:5-8, reads, "…watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Billy J. Brockington was born to the late Robert and Laura Brockington on March 7, 1938, in Marlin, Texas.

He confessed Christ at the age of 6, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Marlin, Texas. His education was received from public schools and completed at Booker T. Washington High School, in Marlin, Texas. He later enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps, where he served at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, California until he was honorably discharged. He later moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965.

Billy met Willie P. Phillips, and married on September 11, 1967. To their union, Cherrlyn, Dimitra, and Ockavia (Keve) Kwame were born.

Billy joined the Central Baptist Church when he moved to Denver, Colorado.
He later moved his membership to Saint Stephen Missionary Baptist, where he served on the Usher Board. In 2002, he joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, where he was ordained as deacon; was dedicated to the positions as Secretary/Treasurer of the Brotherhood Ministry; and a faithful member in
the BTU and Bible Study ministries until his passing. In 2010, he received the "Most Dedicated Member Award."

Billy retired from the Veterans Administration, where he worked for 20 years. He retired from the Regional Transportation District (RTD), where he worked for 20 years. He had a perfect attendance record at both locations. He enjoyed any and all sports.
