Robert (Bob) D. Johnson was born in Holdrege, NE on December 22, 1947, and passed away in Thornton, CO on July 18, 2025. He is survived by his sister Janet McQuillan, brother in-law Dennis McQuillan, his daughter Jennifer Loomis, son-in-law David Loomis, son Robert Johnson, daughter-in-law, Erin Feezor, stepson Chad Tell, his grandchildren, Andrew, Danielle, Sabrina and Kaitlyn as well as seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Darrell & Betty Johnson, his beloved wife Jeannie, his sister JoAnn, stepson Scott Tell and his grandson Maxwell.
Family was always at the heart of Bob’s life. He was known by many titles, Son, Brother, father, husband, soldier, and others. But he was most proud of the titles of Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. Still, in his humble way, he usually introduced himself as “Jus’ Bob.”
Following graduation from Merritt Hutton High School in 1967 he was soon called to serve his country. He served from 1968 to 1971 including a combat tour in Vietnam as an Army Aircraft Armament Repairman. He was proud of his service at a time when military service was not very popular. In recent years he shared more of his experiences with those who were close to him but he generally kept it low key. He lived in Northglenn for most of his life.
Bob worked many years for King Soopers/Kroger as one of those people in the background that you never see but are essential to getting groceries to you. He competed in annual skills competitions and always finished with the top performers.
Bob’s life included camping and RV travel from childhood until his passing. As a child he went on frequent camping and fishing trips with his family. Later in life he enjoyed traveling in his RVs and his motorhome to many parts of this country. Family camping trips include fishing, water skiing and travel around the country. In recent years he enjoyed travel with his Winnebago club as well as wintering in Arizona and visiting Mexico. Over the years he took Kaitlyn with him on several trips to show her the fun places and see and experience other parts of the country.
Bob made friends easily and enjoyed meeting people wherever he went. He had a large circle of friends in Northglenn and he often planned travel stops to visit with old friends who had relocated.
But at the core of everything was always family. His easy laughter and stories of his friends, family and interesting places will be missed by all who knew him.
