Brenda Joyce Breland, 65, of Westminster, CO passed away Monday, July 21, 2014.
She was born to the late Preston and Mildred Brown September 21, 1948, in Los Angeles, CA. She graduated George Washington High School and received an Associates degree from LA City College. She was married to Brad Breland until they divorced in l997.
Brenda's professional career included positions at Amoco Oil and The Daniels Foundation.
Brenda was passionate about helping other people and was a volunteer for the Colorado Aids Project off and on for over twenty years.
Brenda was a member of Spirit of Christ Catholic Church in Arvada along with her daughter, Laura Breland. She was also a very skilled quilter and was a member of the Wa Shonaji (Swahili for "Women who Sew") quilting group. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and various craft classes. Brenda was also a member of a black women's professional group, Sister-To-Sister, also along with her daughter.
Brenda is survived by one child, Laura Candice Breland, of Westminster, CO, and one brother, Michael Brown, of Los Angeles, CA.
The family would prefer that any monies spent on flowers, etc. be donated instead to the American Heart Association, Colorado Aids Project, or the Alzheimer's Foundation of Colorado.
