Callie Alexis Linzey

January 14, 2010 — October 26, 2013

On January 14, 2010, Callie Alexis "Boo Boo" Linzey entered this world determined to make a difference in people's lives. She lived life to the fullest, even when leukemia and the rare fungal infection fought her at every turn at the end of her life on October 26, 2013.
She loved to play in the park, slide on the tallest slide and swing for hours. Her biggest joys in the world were riding all the kiddie rides at Lakeside, the Mile High Flea Market and the Mall. She loved Jump Street, train rides and playing with her little brother Matthew. They fought like cats and dogs sometimes, but loved each other without measure.
Callie loved to play with Mom and Dad and go to Nana's and Pop pop's house. She would call Pop Pop up on the phone and say, come get me k? Of course he would. They would watch Sponge Bob, cuddle and eat Oh Boys and Popcorn. Occasionally she would eat the chapstick, which she called Lips.
She loved to watch toon toons with Mom and Dad and would complain loudly if Daddy or Mommy wanted to change the channel. Her favorites were Sponge Bob, Dora and Doc McStuffins. She always loved to help Mommy with her cosmetology homework and would want her finger nails and toe nails done. Spa Day was special to both of them. She played video games with Daddy, used him as a jungle gym and loved to cuddle with him on the couch.
At Nana's and Pop Pops she loved to "earn her keep." Her jobs were to help load and unload the dishwasher, with help on both of course, take the water bottles out of the package and put in the fridge and help load the washer and dryer.
She was sneaky and would sometimes load Matty in the dryer and play hide and seek. Matty, loving his sister, didn't protest. He would get even and while walking across the living room he would push her over. She would do the same to him. Typical brother and sister. But both would cuddle on the couch, stand side by side watching toon toons right next to the TV, and end up in each other's beds.
Callie giggled, laughed, pouted, and would use up all the band aids in the house if you would let her. Her imaginary owies grew each day. Her blond hair would sparkle in the sun and snarl in the bathtub. She loved pony tails, but hated her hair being combed. She rode her bouncy horse with wild ambition and would sing "Roll em, roll em, roll em, RAWRIDE!!" She would sing "You are my sunshine" in the bathtub and try swimming in it. She loved the pool and would swim until her fingers and toes shriveled.
In her short life she was an inspiration to all the doctors and nurses at Children's hospital. Each day, after the horrible diagnosis, she would astound them with her strength and stubbornness to survive. She also would annoy them by pushing the button on the bed and say, "Doctor, Doctor, I need you and then ask for stickers!" Since she was the doll of the ward, stickers always arrived promptly. They covered both sides of her bed.
Callie was the love of our lives and so special to so many people. She will be missed so much and was loved beyond measure now and forever. As she would ask each of us "are you here for me? I'm here for you"… Yes, Callie, we will always be here for you for eternity and until we meet again.
Callie is survived by her mother, Montana Williams, father, Greg Linzey, brother, Matthew Linzey, Grandparents Penny and Kennie Williams and Brenda and John Linzey, and so many aunts, uncles, cousins too numerous to list.
Callie was helped by so many people during her fight and she and all her family appreciate every one of them. In honor of all the help she received from both inside the hospital and outside, her memory will live on in "Callie's Cuddles." In paying it forward, Callie's Cuddles will provide handmade tie blankets to other children who are fighting for survival at Children's Hospital.
