Calvin Coolidge Williams

Calvin Coolidge Williams, 92, of Aurora, passed away November 4, 2017.

He was born November 13, 1924 in Bay Springs, Mississippi, the son of Jacob and Amanda (Anderson) Williams. On November 12, 1966 he married Gloria Villaver, of Cebu City, Philippines.

Calvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great uncle and friend. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1941-1945, during World War II. He joined the Navy 3 weeks before the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Calvin was a Coxswain during the war, on board the aircraft carriers USS Hammondsport and USS Downes. During the war, the ships were positioned in the Asiatic-Pacific theater.

After his honorable discharge from the US Navy in 1945 Calvin became an observer and field supervisor for Western Geophysical and NORPAC oil exploration firms. His work took him throughout the world. Prior to his marriage to Gloria in 1966, Calvin worked in Aden in Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, Europe, Africa, Alaska, California, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico.

Calvin and Gloria met in Cebu City, Philippines in early 1966 when his work brought him to her beautiful island. Soon after, they were married on November 12, 1966 and moved to the United States. Together they lived in California, Alaska, New Mexico, Texas and Colorado. In 1974 their first child, Jacob, was born in Woodland, California. 5 years later their daughter Amanda was born in Gillette, Wyoming. In 1984 the Williams family moved to Aurora, Colorado and has lived there since. In 2009 he was blessed with his only grandchild, Amelie.
Calvin lived a good life full of adventure, travels and joy. He will always be remembered for his love, care, humor, a big and gentle heart, and his industriousness.

Calvin is survived by wife, Gloria Williams; son, Jacob Williams; daughter, Amanda Williams; and granddaughter, Amelie Downey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Amanda Williams; siblings, Clinton Williams, Ovett Williams, RJ Williams, Eula Simpson, Mattie Anderson.
