It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl C. Saunders Jr., 95, of Ransomville, NY, who peacefully passed away on October 31, 2026.

Carl was born in Wilkinsburg, PA, to Carl Saunders Sr. and Iva Parks on Oct. 29, 1931. After high school, Carl attended agricultural college but left once his mother was diagnosed with cancer. He went on to marry Florence Seif, where together they owned and operated an Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Together they had two children, Audrey and Clint. They moved from Pittsburgh to Ft. Lauderdale in 1968 where he started his career at the Art Institute as the Director of Admissions.

Carl eventually moved to Colorado and met Vera Medina while working at National Camera. They married on Nov. 7, 1982 in a small ceremony in the mountains attended by her parents and her 3 children, Joe (Sam), Chris & Renee. In 1985 Carl was honored by the Colorado Private School Association for his contribution and he received an appreciation award from the Bureau of Land Management for his work with the wild horse rescue while working with Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology.

Beyond his work, Carl enjoyed time with his family by taking trips to Lake Powell, camping in the mountains and skiing the high country of Colorado. In 1996 Carl and Vera adopted Christian and they began the journey of parenting and adding to the Saunders family.

Outside of work and family Carl was an avid garage sale enthusiast holding sales in the neighborhood on a regular basis. He also enjoyed volunteering at their church, contributing angel eggs and making bacon for the men’s breakfast.
