Carmen Julia Perez died peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Aurora, Colorado at the age of 79.
Carmen was born on July 20, 1937 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico to her parents William Perez and Petra Colon. She grew up in La Perla, Puerto Rico. In 1969 she moved to New York City, NY where she worked cleaning houses and raised her family. She later moved to Aurora, Colorado where she helped care for many children with her daughter in their childcare home.
Carmen was a loving mother, daughter and grandmother. She had a beautiful spirit, a caring and nurturing heart and loved all of her babies. Every time you were in her kitchen you could be sure to receive a loving smile, a large plate of food, a cup of coffee, a warm hug and lots of love!
Carmen is survived by her daughter, Maria Arroyo; her son, Miguel Alonso; her son-in-law, Carlos Arroyo; her sisters, Nilba, Maria Esther, Margarita, Carmen Lydia, Isabella; her brothers, Luis, Yunior, Reinaldo, Roberto, and Jose; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Carmen will be cremated and a memorial will be held at her daughter's home, 12693 E. Ohio Avenue, Aurora, CO 80012 from 9am to 8pm. You are welcome to come by during that time to share some memories, pay your respects and spend time with the family.
