Carmen Romero Robinson,
77, was born to the late Epifanio Romero and Clotilde Robinson on February 27, 1936 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She sailed on the SS Borinquen from San Juan to New York City on August 18, 1947 at the tender age of 11. She loved New York! She loved the mixture of Puerto Rican music, culture, and people. She would often sing "I Love New York." She was very well known and well liked. In the 1980s, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she spent the rest of her life. She dearly departed this life on June 8, 2013 during a short stay at Cherry Creek Nursing Center.
She loved life and was a proud Puerto Rican! She enjoyed sharing her Puerto Rican culture and cuisines like Arroz con Pollo (chicken and rice), Arroz con Gondules (rice and pigeon peas), and Bacalaitos (cod fish fritters) to name a few. She also loved her dark chocolate! Being a true Puerto Rican, she loved to dance - especially merenga and salsa.
She shared God's word and encouraged people with the goodness of God. She touched the lives of many people with her deep dimples and infectious smile and maintained her trademark "have faith" all the way to the end. She trusted God for her healing – and she received it lovingly and peacefully.
Her hobbies were attending to her assorted plants and tending to her pet fish. Her plants were her "babies." She was extremely creative and loved to sew. You could see her creativity when you walked into her home and saw her upholstery projects and various interior designs. She could truly turn trash into treasures.
Carmen leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children; Carmen, Magdalena, Delores, Alan, Debra (Gary), David, and Jose "Jay" (Tanya); grandchildren; Omar, Kenyatta, Carlos, Curtis (Jemeka), Kacen (Jeff), Joseph, Ranje, Brian, Adam, Anastasia, Anthony, Zachary, Katelyn, Joshua, Devon, Anthony, Joey, Ryan, Sabastian, Brooklyn, London; great grandchildren; Makala "Mimi," Jaden, Caleb, Emerie; siblings; Annie, Rosita, Guancho, Lucy "Susan," Clarita "Cookie," Gladys (Alvin), Nellie (Bernard); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, grand nieces and nephews, great, great nieces and nephews, great, great, great nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her sons Larry and Frank.
