Carolyn Ann Estes was born in Wheeler, Texas on March 13, 1944.
She passed away on January 2, 2016 at the age of 71.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents Dick and Jimmie Brown, and her loving husband of 32 years, Gordon Estes Sr.
Carolyn will be forever cherished in the hearts of many, many people including her brother Jack, sister-in-law Karma Sue, and her children and their partners, Darren and Molly Peterson, Shelley Nordin and Michelle Gowen, Sandie and Todd Gette, and her former husband, Charlie Peterson. Her grandchildren, and their respective partners, Krystal and Gene Mitchell, Katie and Greg Muth, Taylor and Emily Peterson, Keith Kilbey, Kelsey Nordin and Ryan Rozinski, Cody Peterson and Sarah Turnbach, Lindsay Peterson, and Haley Nordin will never forget Memom's example of unconditional love, compassion, and hospitality. Her great grandchildren, Jordan, Chloe, Maddox, Emery, Mya, and Mia were fortunate enough to meet Memom briefly and will undoubtedly continue to hear countless stories of her as they grow up.
She would've liked to be remembered happily – smiling and laughing at a good joke, rocking out to her favorite Elvis song, or walking in the mountains hand-in-hand with Gordon. Her loved ones will forever hear her in the wind chimes in a soft breeze and see her in the little rainbows of light reflecting off of glass prisms in the window. We will feel her warmth every time we kiss a family member goodbye and stand waving on the driveway as they drive away.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bonfils Blood Center (http://www.bonfils.org/giving for monetary donations) or Coal Mine Veterinary Hospital Rescue Fund (6740 S. Pierce St., Littleton CO, 80218) to be used to care for abandoned animals, a program from which Carolyn and Gordon received the tiniest light of their life, Ziva.
