Charles Frederick "Bainy" Gary was born in Batesville, Mississippi on September 29, 1941 to Reuben Gary and Hortence Johnson. He was the sixth of seven children: Reuben Jr., Frank, Kermit, Harold, Robert and Riley Gary.
During the winter of 1942, the family moved to Dyersburg, Tennessee where "Bainy," as he was called by friends and loved ones, professed his love for Christ by joining People's Chapel Church.
He graduated from Bruce High School in 1960 and within a short time relocated to Denver, Colorado where he began seeking to fulfill his career goals.
This included working for the Denver Public Schools; Elba; a limousine service and twenty years with Continental Airlines.
He married his Bruce High School classmate Mary Margaret Powell in 1962. In this union three children were born; Sherri Lin, Sharron Marie and Charles F. Gary, Jr.
"Bainy," an amateur artist throughout his life, loved sports, especially tennis! In his free time he often taught tennis to others of all ages and his grandchildren.
He was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled; he will be remembered as a kind, caring and concerned man and will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known him.
After several years of declining health, "Bainy" Gary departed this life Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Aurora South Medical Center. His family was by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Reuben and Hortence Gary; four brothers: Harold, Kermit, Riley and Robert Gary.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Mary Margaret; two daughters: Sherri Lin and Sharron Marie Gary; one son, Charles F. Gary Jr., all of Aurora, Colorado; three grandchildren: Brianna Dottson, Kailey Gary and Zoelle Gary, of Aurora, CO. Two brothers: Reuben Gary, Jr., of Dyersburg, TN and Frank W. Gary, of Detroit, MI. A mother-in-law; five sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Although his presence will be missed by our eyes, he will forever live in our hearts. We know to be absent from the body is to be present before the Lord and those that believe in the life and resurrection of Christ shall have eternal life.
