Charles Norman Riggleman

September 25, 1934 — December 8, 2023

Charles "Chuck" Riggleman was born on September 25, 1934, to Revie Riggleman and Eva McCarty Riggleman in West Virginia. It is with sadness that we announce his passing on December 8, 2023. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, and his daughter, Mary, as well as his parents. Chuck is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth and Dianna (Joe), his grandchildren: Jennifer (Teddy), Tom (Amanda), Cole, Sophia, and Samantha; and great-grandchildren: Kylie, Kennedy, Morrigan, and James. He is also survived by his brother, Frank, and sister, Mary (Bill), and their families.

Chuck had a 20-year career in the military including time served as a wartime veteran before retiring in Colorado to his second career with E.F. Hutton and Daniels Communications. Even after officially retiring at 65, he continued working part-time with Pony Express and Avis enjoying the camaraderie of workmates and keeping busy. He finally really retired in his 70's and enjoyed walking, biking, playing pool, and spending time with his wife and family.

Chuck loved his family and community of friends at the Center for Active Adults near his home. He enjoyed playing pool and making people laugh with his humorous stories and jokes. He reminded us often that what got him through tough times in life was having a sense of humor and looking for the silver linings. He had a zest for life and enjoyed sharing that with his children and grandchildren. He loved showing little ones his birdcall whistle and playing his clever made-up games (spin the quarter, bounce a nickel off your belly, and 52-pick-up) to keep them entertained. Chuck used humor, jokes, and teasing to coax people to smile and open up wherever he went. He loved sharing stories from his life and learning about what other people were passionate about. He never met a stranger, welcoming everyone to join in and maintaining his exuberance for living and his care for people until the end. Trying new foods or restaurants often resulted in his customary, "This is the best I've ever eaten!" and he believed it. His eyes shone with enthusiasm for each new adventure, culinary or otherwise. He was an avid Broncos fan through good and bad times and could recite stats about players, coaches, and owners past and present. Chuck was also famous for asking, "Aren't you glad you got to see me?" whenever visits ended. We were lucky to have had so many years with him and will miss him and his laughter every day.
